ANALYSIS OF HOT AND COLD SPOTS OF ULTRAVIOLET TARGETED SUBSTITUTION MUTATIONS ON THE SITE DNA CODING TRANSPORT RNA supF

The nature and formation mechanisms of hot and cold spots of ultraviolet targeted substitution mutations formation are investigated. The all cis-syn cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers which may be formed on no coding strand of supF are examined. Analysis of 27 photodimers which are hot and cold spots of ultraviolet mutagenesis confirm that hot spots of ultraviolet mutagenesis are those sis-syn cyclobutane cytosine – thymine and thymine- cytosine dimers, on which more energy flow down than on such cis-syn cyclobutane cytosine – thymine and thymine- cytosine dimers that are cold spots of ultraviolet mutagenesis. Causes of hot and cold spots of ultraviolet mutagenesis are correlation between singlet and triplet energy levels of the DNA bases and energy transfer in DNA molecules. Extra energy may result in tautomer change of DNA bases that are part of the cis-syn cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers. That may be source of mutations. The proposed model is developed in framework of polymerase – tautomer model of ultraviolet mutagenesis.

THE EFFECT OF PREVIOUS DEFORMATION ON A STRUCTURE AND PHASE COMPOSITION OF DIFFUSION ZONE IN THE PROCESS OF CASEHARDENING WITH BORON FOR LOW-CARBON STEELS

The aim of the paper is to study the effect of previous cold plastic deformation on a structure, phase composition and physical and mechanical properties of diffusion zone in the process of simultaneous saturation of the low-carbon steel surface with both boron and carbon.
The research was carried out for the specimens of steel 45, which were previously heated and held at temperature of 1223 K for 5 hours and then were subjected to compressive deformation at temperature of 298 K with deformation degree of 20 % and 40%. Then above specimens were saturating with boron and carbon in solid carburizing compound with boron carbide adding for 4 hours at temperature of 1223 K.
The investigation of structure and properties of the surface for the processed specimens was performed by methods of metallographic, layer-by-layer spectrographic, durametric and X-ray analyses, as well as by means of the electron scanning microscope JSM-6490LV.
Previous cold plastic deformation of degree of 10 %, 20 % and 40 % leads to increasing of diffusion zone depth (in 1,15-1,3 times) and microhardness of sublayer after saturation the surface of alloys with boron and carbon comparing with previously annealed specimen. Previous cold plastic deformation provides the formation of pearlite highly dispersed structure and inclusions of boron-bearing phases.
To change the structure of case-hardened with boron layer after diffusion saturation of alloys we performed the cooling-down and holding at the temperature of 1150 K for hour. After holding at this temperature and after air cooling we observed the change of volume ratio and size of boron-bearing phases in case-hardened with boron layer. However, in case-hardened with boron layer of alloys there were no Fe2B boride anywhere. The layer was strengthened with highly dispersed inclusions of boron carbide, arranged in a volume of pearlite grains. The performed investigations enable to obtain the case-hardened with boron layers, homogeneous with structure and depth, strengthened with highly dispersed boron carbides both after previous annealing and previous deformation.

THE EFFECT OF STATIC DEFORMATION ON BORON DIFFUSION AND PHASE FORMATION IN A MEDIUM-CARBON ALLOY

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of previous static plastic deformation on boron diffusion mechanism in steel 45 after subsequent saturation its surface with boron.
The research was carried out for the specimens of steel 45, which were previously heated and held at temperature of 1223 K for 5 hours and then were subjected to compressive deformation at temperature of 298 K with deformation degree of 20% and 40%. Then above specimens were saturating with boron in solid carburizing compound with boron carbide adding for 4 hours at temperature of 1223 K.
The investigation of structure and properties of the surface for the processed specimens was performed by methods of metallographic, layer-by-layer spectrographic, durametric and X-ray analyses, as well as by means of the electron scanning microscope JSM-6490LV.
Previous cold plastic deformation of degree of 20% and 40% leads to increasing of diffusion zone depth (in 1,15-1,3 times) and microhardness of sublayer after saturation the surface of alloys with boron comparing with previously annealed specimen. Besides, in conversion zone of annealed medium-carbon alloy we observe the inclusions of borides Fe2B, having continuous structure, and some inclusions, arranged on the boundaries of pearlite grains, have multiphase structure. After previous deformation the volume ratio of finely divided Fe2B boride inclusions increases and they have discontinuous structure. They are arranged not only on the boundaries of ferrite and pearlite grains, but also, partially, in a grain volume.
To determine the effect of previous deformation intensity on diffusion mechanism and on the ratio of the coefficients of grain boundary and volume diffusion we performed the calculations. Among all the diffusion task solutions, available in research literature, the Le-Claire analysis is the most appropriate for use in practice.
The outcomes analysis shows that comparing with previously annealed state of medium-carbon alloy the ratio of the coefficients of grain boundary and volume boron diffusion becomes one order less under previous cold plastic deformation. The last stems from the fact, that under previous deformation, probably, the incomplete grain cleavage takes place and, consequently, the boundaries lengthens, which makes the volume diffusion energetically favourable, as well. In this case ought to emphasize the fact, that reduction range of a grain determines the diffusion type and balance between the boundary grain and volume diffusion. Performed in this paper investigations enable to control the physical properties of boride layer depending on conditions of previous processing of alloys.

The effect of the thermal energy distribution of elec-trons in the emitter and collector of the tunnel junction is taken into account. The dependence of the high-frequency electron current and phase current on the frequency and applied dc bias voltage is found.

Efficacy of carbon diamond-like coatings (DLC) using for rubbing surfaces of lubri-cated friction units is analyzed. The problems connected with the effect of DLC structure on tribological behavior under lubricated conditions, as well as specific character of interac-tion between carbon coatings and active components of lube oils are considered. A sepa-rate type of carbon coatings - coatings-orientants what provides formation of stronger boundary lube layers resulting in widening of temperature ranges of lube materials op-eration is also considered.

In this paper present results of researches of influence of high-temperature annealing in the air environment on phase structure and structure of films diboride of hafnium. It is shown that in the course of annealing on a surface of a film of HfВ2 the oxide layer of HfО2, with monoclinic structure that leads to formation of a multilayered covering of HfB2-HfO2 is formed.
The optimizing model of process of cutting hard-alloy cutting plate Т15К6 with a nanocrystal film diboride of hafnium, nanohardness Н=44,5 of GPa possessing by the best physics-mechanical characteristics and the module of elasticity Е=396 of GPа is offered.

In this paper four types of crystallization reactions of amorphous films was distinguished. There are layered polymorphic crystallization, islands polymorphic crystallization, dendrite polymorphic crystallization and liquid-phase crystallization. It is noted, that the layered polymorphic crystallization can be regarded as a "coherent" crystallization, occurring in the accordance to the optical Huygens - Frenel principle.

This paper is devoted to the study of Co-Bi immiscible alloy samples produced by the method of casting, splat-cooling and by the upgraded 3-electrode ion-plasma sputtering. It has been shown that the method of the upgraded ion-plasma sputtering allows to obtain homogeneous nanocrystalline or amorphous state in immiscible sys-tems.

In this paper kinetics and mechanisms of nucleation and growth of crystallization centers with the structure of B2-phase (CsCl-prototype) in the Al50Ni50 alloy have been studied by the me-thod of molecular dynamics. Two models were in consideration: with simple empirical potentials and modern EAM potentials. It was found that the critical sizes of nuclei weakly depend on super-cooling; at large supercoolings; the structure of crystallization centers improves during growth. The growth mechanism depends on the temperature. At small supercoolings, the growth by formation of two dimensional nuclei takes place for the model with empirical potentials. It was studied how or-dering in displacement of Al- and Ni- atoms is changed with the supercooling; and also how the or-dering depends on the size of nanocrystals (dimensional effect). The faces of (100) type are absent in shapes of growing nanocrystals. Growing faces of (110) type are not flat at large supercoolings > 700 K; they replace locally when right ordering in close area of amorphous phase is formed.

In this paper we proposed new classification schemes of carbon nanostructures and phases which are based on types of formed in materials chemical bonds and the number of nearest neighbors with which each atom forms covalent bonds. The classification schemes allow not only to describe the known phase, but also to predict new ones.

In this paper a new low-temperature method of formation of the superthin oxide films on a Si by catalytic plasma anodic oxidation using rare-earth element has been proposed. The method allows to reduce temperature of formation of oxide more than twice and to increase rate of an oxidation by the order of magnitude. The mechanism and condition of formation of oxides using the catalytic plasma anodization process are proposed.

The effect of nitrogen pressure on the composition, crystalline structure, hardness and cavitation resistance of the filtered vacuum-arc deposited Ti-N coatings was studied. When the nitrogen pressure increases in the range of 0.03-0.2 Pa, the nitrogen content in the coating increases too, and the structure alters from the fine grain or nearly amorphous one to coarse-grained one with the axial texture of [111]. The hardness of the coatings decreases from 36 to 28 GPa, and cavitation resistance increases essentially.

THE EFFECT OF PLASMA TREATMENT OF DIFFERENT CATHODE MATERIALS ON CURRENT-VOLTAGE CHARACTERISTICS
OF MIRROR PENNING DISCHARGE

The behavior of current-voltage characteristics (CVC) of mirror Penning discharges in air has been studied in dependence on cathode material. Such materials as stainless steel 12KH18N10T, copper, titanium, aluminum, tungsten were used as cathodes. The experiments were carried out in the DSM-1 device [1]. The pressure of work gas was 2•10-3 Torr for all experiments. Discharge duration was 10-15 min., discharge voltage was in the range of 300-2000 V, discharge current changed from 5 mA to 100 mA. It was shown that the CVC behavior for such materials as Ti, Cu, W is typical for mirror Penning discharges.
